Talking to kids

About disabilities

as school (and Sunday Schools) start

This article – Please Talk To Your Kids About Disabilities – is a great read for parents and anyone who works with kids including Sunday School teachers and Youth Workers.

It’s so important that if we believe that everyone is made in God’s image that we treat everyone as his image bearers. So read the article; as a parent think about how you can prepare your children; as a Sunday School teacher think about how you can demonstrate this and deal with this in your class. It’s especially important at this time of year as children change classes but also as new people come into your area.

If you’d like some tips on creating equal access in your classes here are some links (although there’s still a lot that needs to be covered):
Including children with hearing impairments
Including children with visual impairments
Including autistic children
