There will be new stuff coming soon
and there’s plenty of good stuff already here
I’m not posting anything new this week – my parents are coming to visit, I’ve recently started a mid-week preschool playgroup that requires a lot of planning, I’ve not been super organised and I’ve got some filling in the gaps to do that’s beginning to weigh on me.
Edit: Turns out International Womans Day is the 8th not the 13th as my brain told me. Not super organised is at least organised enough to have prepped a post a week in advance although not organised enough to have checked the calendar.
Next week: the Disorganised Sunday School Blog will be celebrating International Womans Day.
Edit: Because of the aforementioned error there may or may not be anything next week. However the IWD post is up.
Sometime in the future: I’ll post the material for the playgoup and a ‘how to …’ on getting one started. I’ll also post the first of a long series of sermon accompanying worksheets for the entirety of Acts. I’ll reorganise the blog and make sure all the series are complete. I’ll make a list of youth group games for any situation. And I really, really want to write some sunday school stuff for the second half of Daniel (it’s just always at the bottom of my wish list).
Right now: Check out our pic-n-mix style plans for children’s work on John, the Ten Commandments, Parables and Philippians or have a look at our studies for youth groups; Philemon, The Armor of God, Narnia and Pilgrim’s Progress.
I found Narnia!
Not at the back of my wardrobe unfortunately.
Instead I updated the Narnia page on this blog with the talks and powerpoint from that series. I’m not entirely sure how or why they disappeared in the first place. Nevermind, they’re back now!
The Disorganised Sunday School Blog has a new thing
Can you spot it in the menu above?
Yes! We’ve added a brand new Youth Work section to the blog for all the Disorganised Youth Workers out there. If you’re a follower let your DYW know what’s coming and encourage them to subscribe so they don’t miss out.
It already includes our Narnia talks and a link to our Christmas Scripts (check them out if you haven’t already – it’s nearly upon us!) which work great for teenagers as well as younger actors. And starting next week will have a series on The Armour of God from Ephesians 6.
The Chronicles continue
but we haven’t finished yet
Yes, unfortunately the series is unfinished and will remain so for a while longer. We only had five weeks left before the holidays when I was writing these so that’s not enough for the whole series even if we hadn’t copped out and just had a Narnia themed party for our final week. Costumes were mainly of Pevensie children because that’s easy but we had a few talking animals and a very enterprising lamppost!
Check out the Magician’s Nephew and the Voyage of the Dawn Treader.
I do have plans to create talks for the rest of the series at some point, even if it’s only for the benefit of the blog.
Step through the wardrobe
and get the discussion started
This is a slightly new style for the disorganised sunday school blog: no games, songs or memory verses but a youth group style talk and discussion. Great for older kids as it is (we played games either side) or an exploration of themes you can adapt for younger kids if you want. Also it includes what is probably my best idea ever! That’s for those of you who don’t find Narnia itself enough of a draw.
This week: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe (2 talks)
Next week: Assorted other books
